Hi,

My D180, which is installed in a Vans RV12 and has flown for around 100 hours, has been faultless until now. Yesterday on power-up the attitude indicator slowly oscillated with bank angles exceeding 60 degrees on the ground. In flight, the attitude horizon disappeared, and the slip ball was way off to the right. All other indications were fine. I rebooted the unit in the air, and got the message "attitude recovering". However it did not.

Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this? I plan initially to download the stats and review these, then remove the unit from the plane and power it up with an external 12v supply to see if the problem is replicated. On the assumption that I have a hard fault, what's the procedure for repair/replacement? The unit has only been installed for a year or so.

Cheers...Keith Boardman (in the UK)

Keith, there is a 90% chance that is a hard fault and we need to repair it. It's under warranty, so there's no issue there.

Send us an email at support@dynonavionics.com or give us a call (7AM-4PM pacific time, GMT -8) and we can get you an RMA number. I don't normally deal with these but we may be able to just have you ship it within the UK.
