Hi,

I have a Dynon D180, Garmin Aera 660.

Im going to order 2 servos SV42c and SV52c.

Do I need the AP74 and the HS34 to able to connect my Aera 660 to the D180. Will I be able to navigate VOR and ILS with this setup?

What is the difference between the AP74 and HS34? Or do I just need one of them?

Chris,
The Aera 660 is not going to provide you any VOR/ILS capability. If you had a nav radio, SL30, GNS430 etc. you would.

No you do not need the HS34 unless you need to connect a certified navigator and or need any further inputs to the system.

The AP74 on the other hand, while not necessary to use the AP functionality, it does make the use of the AP much easier and nicer. I would do that.

Hi, I am the owner of an RV9. I have a question that I hope you can help. I have a Dinon Flydec D180 and I just installed a Garment 660. I will like to integrate this tow together so I can start flying IFR. I was told that I had to add a Dynon HS34 for this to work and use an ARINC429 cable connector (not RS232) I’m a bit confuse in how to do the cabling. Do you have any thoughts on this. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks

Carlos

Similar to the last answer - if it's a Aera 660, that' won't work. But if it's a GTN650 - yes - you need the HS34, and then you'll need to build a harness to connect between the 650 and the HS34 (there isn't a pre-made harness for this)

Hi!

Thank you for your answers! I am flying VFR at the moment and wish to get my IFR soon.

I ordered the HS34 and AP74. Is it possible to connect the Aera 660 to the HS34 and make the autopilot follow the GPS Nav enroute before upgrading to a IFR GPS? If so is the connection Serial Data?
