My D180 EFIS is about 1 year old and has 5 hours on it. I do NOT have the battery backup installed but will shortly.
During taxii (after a flight) the EFIS will reboot on the ground.
Today the EFIS was actually rebooting during a second flight of the day (the first flight had no issues until taxiing back to hangar again). Some accessories were on at the time (ldg light, fuel pump, strobes, pos lights, radio). So we shut everything down, waited 1 min and then the EFIS ran for another 3-5 minutes before continually re-booting again; so we landed.
I let the aircraft sit for 1/2 hour on the ground and the EFIS operated normally; but I could hear a smal *click*, *click* every 2 seconds or so (sounded like a relay)....
Is this an battery/software problem? Or do I need a new EFIS? The wiring was professionally done so I figure that's not the root cause right now.....
