D180 Flickering Screen

I have a friend who recently started flying behind a D180, he does not use this forum so I thought I would post the question for him.

At the first few flights, he noticed that the screen would flicker with horizontal white thin stripes at various places on the screen. Sometimes one sometimes miltiples at one time. Looks like an old TV with a bad cable connection and you are wiggling the cord.

Eventually his screen went blank. He sent it in for warantly repair and the bright screen upgrade.

Upon returning the unit to service, the same thing is going on.

Any ideas? Everything else seems to work great but he is afraid the screen will just black out again.

Come on guys, some ideas here?

There is like 6 of us building RV's here yet to purchase panel items and to be honest none of us want screens that just go blank so I would appreciate some kind of response.

We've not seen many customers that have their screens going blank on them, so your friend's experience is fairly unique. Having it happen twice seems like a one in a million chance.

Any weird lines showing up on the screen is cause for concern, and it makes sense that this could be a precursor to the whole screen going blank. If you see something like this happening, you should probably give us a call and send the unit in for repair before it just goes out on you when you need it. We'll be happy to tell you what we found once we get to take a look at the unit.
