D180 & OAT indication

I've just started flying my newly completed RV-7. I have a D180 and remote compass with OAT. The compass is giving input to the D180, but I can't seem to get OAT to show up on the screen.  I have select type 1 probe, but get a message that says not found (or something like that).
D180 & EDC-10a both updated to 5.4

Not sure what I need do.  Any help would be great.

BTW-I'm a mechanic & not computer savvy, so be gentle ;D

Where is the OAT hooked up? At the EDC or at the EMS? IF at the EDC, make sure that EFIS>SETUP>OAT is set to type 2, and that none of the GP inputs under EMS>SETUP>SENSORS is set to OAT.

If it's hooked up to the EMS, it's the reverse: make sure that the GP input that the OAT is connected to is set to OAT under EMS>SETUP>SENSORS , and make sure that EFIS>SETUP>OAT is set to N.

It's hooked to the EDC. I'll set the type to #2 and check the other stuff tomorrow. Thanks I figure its more of an operator issue than any real problem

Operator error all the way. I pushed the right buttons and tada it works!
