I have a strange condition I don't understand. When I kill my main power to the D-180, a red window appears saying something like - power off and unit will turn off in 30 seconds. And it does. BUT, if i touch any of the six buttons, the red 30 second warning window extinguishes and the unit continues to operate well past 30 seconds and never stops, even though it should not be getting any electrical power. I am assuming it is running off the internal battery and will continue until it is dead. I have cut the yellow "always on" wire as instructed. Firmware 5.5 is installed. Is this operating correctly? If so, I can live with this. It just seems strange. thanks :)

This means it has the internal battery and is acting exactly as designed. If you are in flight and your power fails, press any of the 6 buttons and the unit will stay on for the rest of the flight. A backup battery isn't very useful if it only stays on for 30 seconds!

You can always turn the unit off by pressing and holding button #1 (the left-most one). You can actually turn it on that way too.
