A few problems have developed, ie they were working OK but now arent. - listed by prioroty. Its in a Jabiru 200, 6 cyl, running 4.04.
Backup battery, unit switches on and off with Master sw, until recently the backup bat setup worked OK, now it shuts down when cranking and imediately with master sw
Still get High RPM alarm when reducing power upon joining circuit, Ive added 100K resistor, problem about the same
Occasionally get wild EGT on one cylinder but not too woried about this
Fuel flow - wild readings but now only with elect fuel pump turned on??

Regards

Updating to 5.0 may solve the battery issue for you. If it doesn't, give support@dynonavionics.com an email and ask about the internal battery patch.

Is your total resistance at 100K? You can go up to 150K and see if that changes anything.

Wild EGT sounds like a probe that might be wearing out (this is expected of EGTs).

Erratic fuel flow with the pump on is something that some people see, and is probably just turbulence in the line.

OK
Had more of a play today and also noticed that clock returns to 11:00 every time the unit is turned on after being off overnight,
This recovers once other avionics are powered up, ie 296 unit starts sending data
Seems like the battery is dead flat or not being used. Issue that is confusing is the unit has been running OK inc backup battery for over a year now - whats changed?
I will upgrade software and see how it goes

Your battery is probably discharged, with the unit not recharging it properly. The "I" lineitem on the EFIS voltmeter may reveal either a deeply discharged (12-14V) or completely cutuff (0V - cutoff by discharge safety circuits) battery.

We've made changes over the recent versions of firmware that improve battery charging and other power supply features. 5.0 has some of these improvements, as does the patch I mentioned if that doesn't get you back in business.

Email to Mike H indicates patch is for ver 5 only, hasnt had this problem w 4.04 so its likely to be something else
He recommends NOT installing the patch
Any suggestions?

Sorry, I wasn't clear:

First, update to the 5.0 release on our site. If that doesn't fix everything, we can then send you the patch to apply on top of that.

OK,
Main V = 12.5v, Internal = 0 v, keep alive = 0 and not connected
Loaded Ver 5
Put the main bat on charge - stable 13.0 to 13.5 volts
Left power on to D180  (screen turned off) for over 20hrs
Now internal bat 16 V, and is working as backup, is this high enough?

Do I still run the patch?
With the new firmware and/or patch do I reconnect keep alive?

Ill monitor internal volts over the next few trips and see how it goes

Looks like you're working now. 16V is just about a full charge. Units typically max out between 16.0 and 16.2. At this time, we are generically recommending that customers not connect keep-alive for best performance. If your internal battery now holds its charge over the next few weeks, you won't need the patch right away. That small update, incidentally, be rolled into our next firmware release.

As discussed with Mike H, battery is not OK.
Reads 16 V in flight or on charge. Took 40 hrs charge to get to 16.2V
When landed and mains turned off, screen goes off too. Upon reapplying main power internal bat reads 13 v

Restart engine, screen turns on and off while cranking and then int bat goes immediately to 15.5 volts

Normally in 12v Id say the battery has problems

I want to avoid returning the unit as Im in Australia

More flights, more testing
Now the D180 seems to be keeping charge up OK, above 16 v all the time.
But when I shut off mains power it turns off like theres no Back up battery

Do you have the patch we previously mentioned? If not, shoot tech support an email at support@dynonavionics.com to get it.

Loaded patch today
No change
Internal 16.2, main 12.5, keep alive 0.
Turn off master and D180 shuts down

Sending this to the top again

Is the internal battery the problem?

JR,

It sounds like the internal battery or your unit is the issue here. I think we have ruled out any software issues, what you are seeing seems different. So it is probably time to stop fighting it and have us take a look. You can send in the battery only or the unit and battery. I recommend the entire unit so we can nip this once and for all. Give technical support a call at 425-402-0433 and we will get you going. And of course, you can do this at your leisure; you may want to time it when it is convenient for you to have the unit/plane down.

Not wanting to return the unit to the USA, I opened the battery compartment and had a play
Was fairly clear the plug for the battery was faulty and easily lost connection as it was flexed
I have simply bent the centre pins so it makes better contact and was unable to make the unit loose power after this.
In another application I have had the same fault repeatetly with a very similar plug type

Great to hear! Just a note (for everyone reading) that other than replacing the internal backup battery and fixing the EDC-D10A per the service bulletin on our site, there are no user serviceable parts inside our products.
