D180 to GTX327 hook up

Hi:

I'm doing some very initial electrical checks to see if the D180 can send altitude info to the Garmin GTX327 transponder.

First let me tell you where I'm at in the build. GTX327 transponder is in the panel all hooked up except for the antenna. The D180 is in the panel but not no sensors are hooked up to it. The remote compass is not hooked up. Pitot and static lines are not attached. I do have power going to it and it is hooked to the GTX327.

So, I powered both units up the other night and set the Dynon to Format 4 so that it can talk to the Garmin. I set the Garmin to look for Icarus inputs and sure enough, the Dynon seems to talk to the Garmin. My question is, the Garmin shows an altitude of -200 feet. I've played with the altimeter setting on the Dynon and removed the plastic static and pitot from the unit so that it can breath but the Garmin won't budge. Now, I'm not even sure if this is a problem at this point. Is it?

Thanks

Encoder outputs are ALWAYS at 29.92, so changing the baro setting won't change the output.

If you're near sea level, and it's a high(er) pressure day, -200 feet is totally normal and possible.

If you really want to check it, go into your ALTADJ in the setup menu and adjust this. It adjusts the whole altimeter and encoder output as well. Make sure you remember the setting and put it back when done, as we do adjust this at the factory.
