D2 Battery Problem

I just purchased a new D2 and charged it with the supplied wall charger as per the manual. I turned it on to ensure it was fully charged and then turned it off. About 3 days later, I turned it on and the battery indicates almost dead. I have repeated this process several times now with no improvement. I do not think that my unit is holding the charge properly. Is there anything I am doing wrong or is the unit defective?
