D6 heading completely wrong

I have a D6 with the remote compass as backup to my Skyview. Everything appears to work in the D6 except the heading. It wanders randomly from 30 to 180 degrees off, either direction, on the ground or in the air. It fails calibration when I try to swing it on a compass rose; I can take the remote compass out of the plane and hold it in my hand, and sometimes when I rotate it the display does nothing, other times the heading tape swings wildly when it is not changing orientation, inside or outside the plane, with nothing electrical or magnetic changing in any way whatsoever. I've already sent the remote compass back to Dynon (came back with the famously cryptic "firmware update" on the RMA Customer Report sheet) per support's recommendation, but the same behavior exhibits when I reinstalled. This makes me think the problem is in the D6 itself, but can anyone please help me get the heading working so I can get 6 out of 6 functions usable? BTW the Skyview calibrated just fine.

Thanks,
Damon

Two questions:
Are you seeing movement in the turn rate bar when your EFIS is not moving but the heading tape is? (regardless of what you're doing with the magnetometer itself).

When you wave a magnet (an aviation headset earcup works well) near the remote compass, does it change the heading?

Same questions for you:
[list bull-blackball][*]Are you seeing movement in the turn rate bar when your EFIS is not moving but the heading tape is? (regardless of what you're doing with the magnetometer itself).

Damon did you find out what was wrong my d6 does it same thing.
