Data Comm module for Skyview?

This is still a long way off for most aircraft but as part of the NextGen effort they are rolling out the DataComm equipment to allow ATC to talk to participating aircraft via data messaging to a transceiver in the aircraft rather than relying on voice comms. This will initially just deal with the major carriers, I'm sure - but at some point it will roll down to larger GA and then to smaller GA.

Does Dynon have this on their radar (so to speak) for possible future implementation? It sure would be nice to have a module to interface with Skyview and bring up an ATC screen for that purpose.

DataComm is pointed pretty directly at jets flying IFR. The FAA has no public roadmap showing it being used for GA, and their roadmap goes out 7+ years. Given that, no, we don't have one in development, but there's nothing that would prevent us from integrating one with our products if that became a useful tool in GA.

There is the technical ability for them to deliver messages via the ADS-B we already have on board, and I think that it's more likely we'll see that being used before they go to DataComm / FANS / VDL for GA.
