Had an observation yesterday while checking the system and initiating a BU Battery test.
Configuration: Dual HDX each with a backup battery. Electrical bus is split and each is powered from an individual battery.
Isolation from the secondary battery is provided by a switch and Diode to allow charging from but not discharging to the main bus.
With the Master switch off, Master contactor relay open, buss dead, no voltage supplied to the Primary HDX, HDX turned off.
Secondary battery switch is Off. Secondary HDX is operating on SV-BU-320 battery. Secondary HDX reading the system information correctly from the EMS and Dual ADHARS. Display is normal.
Secondary HDX is reporting Main Primary bus at 2.5 vdc ( expect it should be 0, was confirmed at 2.5 vdc, various locations with VOM )
Secondary Bus / Battery is showing 14.5 vdc ( which is correct as that is what is on the battery and buss, the HDX is isolated from the bus via open switch.
Question, Any ideas where the 2.5 vdc is coming from? When the Secondary HDX is shutdown / turned off, the main bus returns to 0 vdc as confirmed by
separate VOM readings.
Any thought on this behavior and recommendations?
