Do I need an A/P disconnect button with a AP74?

I changed stick grips to one without a autopilot disconnect button and now the autopilot will not operate and there is a network config error. With a AP74 installed do I need the button and what do I do with the wires that went to the old button?  Thanks, Scott

We don't consider the disconnect switch optional for safety reasons, but technically speaking the AP74 button accomplishes the same thing (IE you can turn the AP on and off via it). Note that you can't calibrate the AP servos without the disconnect switch. All of that said, the network error isn't going to be because of a disconnect switch issue. It's most likely indicative of a problem with the DSAB network wiring.
