Documentation Mismatch?

I recently received my EFIS unit and set about constructing the wiring harness. I was looking forward to using the altitude encoder outputs with my MicroAir transponder. The installation booklet described the parallel interface which I wired accordingly--but the transponder does not see any altitude data.

After checking these forums I see that the D10A uses serial data. The operating manual for my unit is labeled D10A, while the installation manual is labeled D10 and shows the parallel encoder interface. How can I verify which unit I really have?

TIA

Michael,
Looking at our records, you definitely have an EFIS D-10A. We haven't shipped D-10's for about a year now. We're not sure how you could have received a D10 installation guide since we only have a few of those left around here and don't keep them anywhere near our shipping stock.

We see that your unit was purchased through a dealer, and shipped direct to them. Is there any chance they opened the box and somehow the manuals got switched with an older guide they had lying around?

In any case, we apologize that a mistake was made somewhere in the process. You can download the EFIS D-10A guide off the website here: http://www.dynonavionics.com/docs/EFISD10A_Documentation.html

As you have also found, we switched from parallel data to serial data in the D10A. If your transponder only supports parallel, we do sell a converter that goes from the serial to parallel data standard for $80.

Sorry again for the confusion and the time you spent wiring all of those wires up!

I have a similar situation as Michael with the documentation that came with the D-10A. The installation guide and maintenance manual are both labled for the D-10. However, the user guide is for the D-10A.

Just an FYI.

Larry and Michael,

Regarding the Maintenance Manual, we haven't changed any of its content since the EFIS-D10, so it still bears that name. You're OK on that front.

However, it looks like we sent out a batch of units on the date that both your units shipped (Mar. 29) with EFIS-D10 Install Guides. This was definitely an error on our part, and we're currently determining how widespread this problem is. In the meantime, you can download the latest EFIS-D10A Install Guide here:

If anyone else notices an EFIS-D10 Install Guide in their EFIS-D10A packaging, please follow the link above, as well as sending us an email at info@dynonavionics.com
