Does D100 HSI need the KN-72 to drive the KN-53?

I have a Bendix/King KN53 receiver with glideslope. The description for the KN53 is as follows:
"....The KN-53 may also be used with an HSI (King's KCS-55A System, for example) with a remote KN-72 VOR/LOC Converter"

My question is: Does the D100 require the KN72 converter be used with the KN53 in order for the D100 HSI to function?

We have never been able to get a Bendix/King VLOC radio to work with our products, with or without a converter. It might work, and you would need the KN72 to have any hope, but we can't offer any promises.
