Does The GPS 2020 Handle Signals other Than WAAS?

There are complementary satellite based augmentation systems to WAAS - GLONASS, Beidu and Galileo. Australia may also be getting some coverage from "something". Does the SV GPS 2020 receive and make use of these other signals if they are available or is it specific to WAAS over the USA? I'm trying to decide if it is worth upgrading to the 2020 here in Australia.

Ina ddition, there is SBAS testing going on in Australia. The signal messages though is annotated as "reliability = 0" and certified IFR navigators will ignore these test signals. Do the SKyview GPS's ignore them too?

No, do not upgrade to the SV-GPS-2020 for use in Australia. The SV-GPS-2020 does not receive any of these other GNSS systems, or use any SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) other than WAAS.

The SV-GPS-250 does receive these other GNSSs.

We are not experts on the Australian system, but the FAA has SIL (Safety Integrity Levels). The SV-GPS-250 has a SIL=1. The SV-GPS-2020 has a SIL=3, but not outside the US.

On a related note...I think you may have answered this before, I don't recall...

What frequencies does the GPS-2020 recieve? Presumably L1/L2, but does it receive L5?

If you are thinking of using the 2020for the ADSB out solution then PM me, otherwise it's as Dynon says.

The GLONASS and Galileo are just other GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) so they won't add any accuracy to your position. WAAS is just one of several SBAS systems. They do add accuracy to by broadcasting corrections for the satellite positions. They are geocentric satellites in that they stay in the same position in the sky relative to a position on earth. So you won't receive WAAS anywhere except north America. If we go too far north in Canada the WAAS satellites get too low on the horizon to use.

In addition, I believe the WAAS corrections are only GPS corrections. If you're only receiving GLONASS signals, WAAS doesn't add any accuracy to those signals. Probably why SV-GPS-2020 only uses GPS.

It is interesting that the SV-GPS-250 receives GNSS signals other than GPS. Doesn't add any accuracy but but with more satellites available there is more chance of obtaining enough satellite signals to obtain a position.
