DSAB connection

I have just had the panels out (housing the D100 & D120) in order to connect the D100 audio out (pin 18 'Orange' wire) to my intercom and noticed that the green & blue wires from the D100 pins 4 & 5 (DSAB-A & DSAB-B) respectively were not connected to anything and were insulated and tied back on the loom.

This is probably a dumb question, but how are the D100 & D120 talking to each other? Could it be via the EDC10? I have made up a null modem as a temporary measure in order to transfer the EFIS display to the EMS.......will I need to connect the wires from EFIS Pins 4 & 5 to EMS pins 36 & 37 to achieve full funtionality of the DSAB? (particularly after the next firmware update).

Thanks

Today, the D100 talks to the D120 via the serial connection and null modem. The D120 talks to the D100 via DSAB. If you don't have DSAB hooked up, you can see the EFIS on the EMS but not the EMS on the EFIS.

The EDC has nothing to with the EMS.

You will need the DSAB wires hooked up in the next update.

OK thanks Mike........prior to connecting the serial ports with a null modem, I could get the EMS on the EFIS but not vice versa, so my understanding is that the DSAB connection was not required to achieve that.
Since connecting the D100/D120 with a null modem as per your previous advice, I can now display the EFIS on the EMS however will go ahead and connect both units via the DSAB in preparation for the forthcoming update so I can do away with the serial/null modem tie-up.

Mike....just one more query:-

I have also discovered that the black wire from EFIS Pin 16 (DSAB Gnd) is not connected and is also tied back on the loom. On page 15 of the D100 installation manual, there is no mention of this pin in the DSAB wiring instructions, so can I assume that there is no requirement for this wire from Pin 16 to go to ground?

Thanks
