DSAB vs 9-pin sub Ds

Guys: Do I still need to keep the 9 pin sub Ds connected to each other via gender reverser and null modem? I have installed v4.2 on both the D180 and the D100. I was downloading, inflight, the data from the D180 and the D100 seemed to function normally through the DSAB. I've researched previous posts looking for this info, maybe I just missed it. Dan.

With 4.0 and later, the EFIS and EMS should no longer be connected at the D9 plugs. These are now only used for firmware updating or real time datalogging.
