Theoretically, I think you could install it, but you would still need ALL the original gauges installed and operational as your primary instruments. Then you would need to ensure that your electrical system could handle the load, and by ensure I mean hire a qualified engineer to prepare the documentation and test data that the FAA will surely require. You would also need to obtain an STC from the FAA for the installation (more engineering research and reports), since you would be modifying the original wiring, pitot, engine sensors....
Practically, no you can not install this in your certified aircraft, unless you want to re-certify it as experimental- exhibition, or experimental- research. Neither category is desirable, unless you plan to market your STC's and installations.

The FAA is pretty clear on this actually, and have published advisory circulars that basically say (and I'm paraphrasing) that non-certified avionics that depict flight instruments aren't OK to install in type certificated aircraft, even if as backup, even as secondary, even if you keep everything that came with the aircraft in the aircraft. Check out section 8 of of http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_G...48BC1051F079B741862570210063956C?OpenDocument to read the FAA's own words.

Our avionics are for experimental and Light Sport Aircraft only.

Thanks Dynon, I wasn't aware of that AC; it's even worse than I thought then. Yikes.

In Canada you can move the plane to user maintenance in which case it's basically an experimental (homebuilt in Canada). You have to add an X to all the serial numbers so that the parts aren't used again in certified planes and placard it as an experimental. There are a couple around here including a C140. This originally was a C180.

Nothing wrong with this plane. It's been flying around here for a few years.
