Dynon output compatible with MicroAir T2000

I have a MicroAir T2000 transponder. Does the EFIS D100 output need Dynon's encoder or will the Dynon output work directly with the T2000.

From the T2000 manual, it looks like it needs only has gray code input, and hence requires the converter module. They even have Dynon-specific wiring diagrams!
