Dynon Start-up?

I only have about 6 hours on my SV. What I notice is that in order to turn it on (using master switch) I must turn the power on once and while everything else powers up the SV does not! So I turn power off then back on and now SV powers up. Every time it requires the power switch to be cycled twice to power SV. Is this normal?

When I turn the master off at the end of a flight it does the normal count down to full power off, or select it to stay on with battery power. I do have the back-up battery.

Other than that everything in SV once powered up works great.

Well if that is "normal" then mine is "abnormal". On mine, I flick on the master and the SV powers up fully with no further action.

It does take several seconds before the screen flickers into life. Is it possible the other peripherals are lighting up immediately and it looks like the EFIS isnt?

We have had a few reports of this with users that have a backup battery. It's something unique to the airplane's power system or the SkyView unit itself, since it doesn't do it on the vast majority of installs. It's not "normal" but it is also not indicative of anything uniquely broken in your system.

Disconnecting the back-up battery seems to solve it, but that's clearly not an OK long term solution. We're looking into it but don't have an answer right now. We hope to be able to fix it with a firmware update.

For now, if you want, instead of cycling the master, you can press buttons 1,2, and 5 at the same time and it will boot up (this performs a reset which gets it to boot)

I have this same issue with my 7" Skyview. I will use the 1,2 and 5 buttons in the mean time.

Not a problem, but will look at the way I'm powering it and see if I can find a solution or cause.  Other than that very happy with it! :)

One of my SV's did this 100% of the time on Start up. The suggested solution of disconnecting that one screen from it's battery was not an option I found appealing. Good news is that after sending both screens back for the recent recall / AD, I've had no further start up issues with either screen. Happy, Happy, Happy. :)  Any word on the exact release date of the advanced autopilot / Firmware release?  My RV keeps asking.

Just to add to this thread, with my backup battery connected I get the same result as people above, where I have to cycle the power to get it to boot, with the backup battery disconnected my SV-1000 boots after about 4-5 seconds.

Cheers

I always boot the pilot side, which has the backup battery first, master switch off, to test the battery is functioning using the first button. When I then turn on the master switch, the passenger side boots up without pushing the button.

I like this idea. Boot the display up using the battery then turn the master switch on. It checks the battery and prevents the boot problem. I will do this until DYNON kills this particular bug.
