From the Pfms foundation:

"Using the new WiFi feature of your Dynon SkyView EFIS, EasyVFR is capable of transferring FlightPlans to & from SkyView systems. This makes flight planning and last-minute in-flight changes a breeze! Specially if your Dynon SkyView is connected to an Auto-Pilot your workload will be reduced significantly."

So the cat's out of the bag... When will this be announced by Dynon?

I have seen a demo at the PocketFMS office (they are in the same hangar as my plane) and instantly ordered a Dynon WIFI stick. No need anymore to carry a laptop or to mail the gpx file.
About the same functionality as Forelight; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RK87NDaMtvY

Check the new PFMS 3.60.2! I really like the weather and NOTAM presentation of PFMS.

Looks great! Signing up is a bit tricky though, it shows a $49.95 annual price, but when I tried to sign up it wanted 150 Euros!

Dynon Support has nothing to announce at this moment, but obviously, stay tuned.

Our announcement went live this morning. See http://preflight.dynonavionics.com for details. It works with SkyView 12.0 and the latest EasyVFR release, so you're already good to go once you have your WiFi adapter(s) in hand!

Hi Don,

I'm not sure where you're seeing the $49.95 annual price. That may be on one of the mobile stores (Apple or Google Play). If you buy from then, then the price you see there is the price you pay, but it is linked to that operating system only.

So for example, if you buy on the Apple iOS store, you can only use it on Apple devices linked to that account, and you'll be charged whatever the price is on the Apple store.

The €150 that you refer to, is the Frequent Flyer Membership. It allows for use of EasyVFR on all of your devices (Apple iOS, Google Android, Windows Phone 8, Windows 7 & 8, Apple OSX). It also includes some additional items such as free electronic flight plan filing, IFR waypoints, and probably most critically here, export of data to your Dynon Skyview.

I'd suggest that anyone here, is probably only interested in the full Frequent Flyer Membership, as that's the only licence which will include export of data and approach charts to a SkyView. That costs €150 py.

I hope that helps to clear it up!

Thanks a lot, great information, that is a big help, and stuff I could not figure out for myself.

I was really excited to see that I could connect from my iPad to my Skyview by WIFI. I am making a long trip in May and it would be great to do the next day's planning on my iPad and input it into Skyview.
However, when I rang the UKs main supplier I was told it was not available in Europe as it was not compatible and it was likely to be 6 months before it was released in Europe.
I struggled with that because I can't see what is different and why have both companies announced it. Further, a few are been given away in Freidrichaften.
Can someone please clarify.

Robin:

When you talked to "the UKs main supplier", did you specifically mention EasyVFR by PocketFMS? That announcement is only a day old and the person you spoke to may not have seen that specific announcement. What they may have thought you were asking about is the earlier announcement of SkyView's integration with ForeFlight Pro on iPad, connected via Wi-Fi - THAT is only available and usable in the US.

Foreflight offers a Canadian subscription. I was hoping it worked with that also.  :-/

We should have more accurately said North America. Any region Foreflight supports will work with SkyView.

Don,

I just found out, that a piece of that informtion isn't correct.

You do need the full Frequent Flyer Membership (which costs €150) if you wish to update your SkyView with PocketFMS aerodata (airspace, airports, frequencies, runways, navaids etc). That information is correct.

However if you purchase the EasyVFR one platform licence (purchased firectly from Apple or Google, and only useable on the platform that you purchased from) then, while you can't update aerodata, you can still transfer your flight plan from EasyVFR to your SkyView via the wifi dongle. As this licence only allows you to only use one platform (ios or Android), and doesn't allow you to export your aerodata, it is much cheaper as you already noted.

I hope you follow that! If you don't, feel free to ask for clarification. Sorry for the bad information earlier!
