Hello,

I have connected the wiring as specified to the EDC DB-9 connector
Now I want to setup the EDC in the Menu (Software 02.11)
There is no item EDC in the Menu System
More>Setup>More>More>Magcal>EDC
My EFIS-D10A has only GNDRT AIRRGT AIRLFT END

I can't choose between EDC or EFIS

Is this the reason that EDC and OAT not working?

Please help

With 2.11 software installed the EFIS detects whether or not the EDC is installed and brings up the appropriate calibration menu items accordingly. If you are seeing GNDRT AIRRGT AIRLFT END instead of NORTH SOUTH EAST WEST in the magcal menu, your remote compass is not communicating with the EFIS and the EFIS is using its internal magnetic sensors.

Correct EDC wiring can be easily verified. Power on the EFIS-D10A with
the EDC-D10A connected to it. Observe the displayed heading and then hold one of the
earpieces of a headset near the front of the EFIS-D10A. If the EDC-D10A is correctly wired, you
should see no change in the displayed heading when the headset earpiece and its magnetic
speaker is near the EFIS-D10A. If you see a substantial change in heading, there is a
communication problem between the EFIS-D10A and the EDC-D10A.

This problem is usually caused by loose or incorrect EFIS to EDC wiring. Double check your pinouts and connections per the installation guide.

My RS232 cable works fine.

Here is a picture of the female D9 backside

I think it is correct.

Have you checked continuity from end to end on each connector pair (from DB-9 pin 1 to EFIS pin 24 and so on)?

Also, the did the "headset test" specified in the installation guide reveal whether or not the remote compass is working?

Hello,

yes of course i have checked each connector pair from end to end.
The "headset test" is rotating the compass.
The Support programm 2.2.4 shows no edc detected.

Note that the EFIS-D10A has internal magnetic sensors but those should be shut off when the EDC is connected. Only one set will be active at any time. Were you waving the magnet around the EFIS or EDC when you saw compass movement?

One more troubleshooting note: The EFIS-D10A is only compatible with the EDC-D10A. The EDC-D10 that worked with our original EFIS-D10 will not work with the EFIS-D10A. You've called out both parts by name below, but just to make sure - what are the serial numbers of both the EFIS-D10A and the EDC-D10A that you own?

Oh No No,

thats the reason, i have purchased the EFIS-D10A and the
EDC-D10A with OAT Probe by Aircraft S....
but I have received an EDC-10 S/N 001652

I think they don´t no the differnce between the EDC-10
and EDC-10A

I must bought a new one or is it possible to change something in
the EDC-10?

Carsten,

The two compasses are not interchangable and there is nothing you can do to convert one into the other.

I would first try to exchange the part through Aircraft Spruce since they shipped you the wrong item. If you would rather have us exchange the part directly, give us a call at 425-402-0553 and we'll get you squared away.

When did you purchase the EFIS-D10A from Aircraft Spruce? Also, did you buy the EDC with the EFIS or was it a follow-on purchase? I'm trying to get a feel whether they shipped the wrong part during the time that we were transitioning over from the EFIS-D10 to the EFIS-D10A or if it was more recent than that.
