EDC not Detected

Hello,

I have an OAT connected to the remote compas via the EDC-DC10A. Checked the wireing several times and made sure I had the latest update.

When checkin the firmware with the EDC-DC10A connected, I do get the message "EDC not detected". I do however see the magnetic heading in my EFIS, but it is unstable and move randomly +/- 20 degrees. Also the OAT is not detected.

Here is the configuration:

EFIS-D100: firmware V1.02.00
EDC: "Not connected" or "Not detected". S/N 004232
OAT: type 2 (black ring)

Any idee about the failing device?

Best regards,
Nils

Something isn't quite adding up - The latest EFIS-D100 firmware version is currently 1.06.00, so you may not have updated the EFIS to the latest firmware when you last thought you did.

If you updated the firmware on the EFIS without having the EDC connected, you might see this sort of behavior since the EDC would still have old firmware on it - and this in turn can confuse the EFIS. But in this case, we'd expect the EFIS to reflect the latest firmware version, not 1.02.00.

It sounds like you have used the support program to detect the firmware version on your EFIS and it does not detect the EDC. Is this correct? But, the heading does show up on your EFIS display? Does the heading move if you move a magnet around the remote magnetometer?

Did check for the latest update of the D100 with the EDC connected latest in April or May and as far as I remember there where no update then (could be wrong). So I should have same update on both the D100 and the EDC.

If I turn wih the D100 and the EDC it does turn, but it is very unstable and never stops at one value. Just keeps moving left and right all the time. But stil, the D100 do not detect either the EDC or the OAT, but do show heading (even if its turning).

Anyhow, if I might have different updates in the D100 and the EDC as you suggest - can I conect the D100 and the EDC and try to update to 1.06? Could that solve the problem?

It's worth trying, but definitely make a back-up of your current EFIS firmware when it prompts you to. That way, if the EDC still is not detected, you have the option of reverting back to the older firmware if we need to.
