TO: Dynon engineers!!!
Hi Folks.

I installed my Dynon 100 & 120 units (including the data swap bus) in my RV9a 2 years ago, and launched the maiden flight a year ago last July. All was working great. I LOVE the ease of reading, the display size, and the functionality. I am EXTREEMLY happy with the units!  :D

I uploaded and installed 1.08 and 1.07 ... all still great.  :)

I uploaded and installed 3.0 to get the new enhancements, and the following items DO NOT work correctly:  :-/

1. EFIS % Power indication is erratic, and doesn't "feel" at all right. Example: I'll be at 2400 rpm and see a 98% Power indication.

2. EFIS "Peak and Lean" indications do NOT correlate to what I am seeing using EGTs as a guide

3. EFIS crosswind and winds aloft overlay on the HSI are really off ... Example: I have indicated an xwind component of 90mph

As a result, my in-cockpit response is that I just ignore these indications.

All of these above issues are neat enhancements, but are NOT required.
It'd be nice if they worked correctly.

BUT the MOST (!!!) important indication that I CANNOT ignore and that has changed is:

4. The EMS Carb Temp that WAS funtioning correctly prior to 3.0 ... NOW reads a constant -27 degrees, and it never changes.

With winter coming, I need this fixed ASAP.

I would seriously consider reverting to the 1.8 and 1.7 versions, hoping to restore the correct Carb Temp indication, and to remove the 3.0 enhancements that DO NOT function correctly.

I am willing to receive any Dynon help or assistance on this.
Also please note that I am NOT a computer whiz ... but can follow simple directions.
Therefore, I am also willing to schedule a time to sit in the aircraft and push buttons as prompted, to trouble-shoot these issues.

And ... here is my engine type and equipment:
Aerosport Power 0-320
MS carb
1 slick mag
1 p-mag
Fuel flow meter

Thanks in advance for your help and response!

All of these problems could result if your GP input setups have somehow been changed.

Check and see whether or not your Carb temp and OAT are still listed under the GP inputs that they should be.

Hello Dynon support.
I have already done this.

I have toggled the carb temp GP input on and off ... and I get -27 degrees.

The OAT still functions correctly, and is displayed accurately on the D100 EFIS.

Are you saying that these GP inputs could have somehow changed with the installation of 3.0?

I'll think that we'll need to dig deeper than this.
Next suggestion please?

Thanks,
Tom

Correct - what you want to check is not whether or not the carb temp is on or off, but whether or not it is set to the same GP input it used to be set to. Same for OAT.

Note that our 4.0 update, which is out in the next few weeks, will allow the use of just one OAT across both of your instruments (it can be either the EMS or EFIS OAT).
