I am installing the EFIS D100 and EMS D10 in my VFR RV-9 (read, no audio panel). My iCom radio has two audio inputs but my panel will have three things that have audio out; EFIS, EMS, and Garmin 396. The Sigtronics 200S stereo intercom has one input but that will be used for the "entertainment system" (iPod).

Since the EFIS and EMS will be interconnected, do I only need to connect one of them to my radio? If so, which one? I suspect the EMS would be the better choice.

Thanks for the help.

The EFIS and EMS output their alarms individually. However, you can send both outputs into a single input on your audio panel.

Thanks for the reply. There is only one problem, I don't have an audio panel, only the two inputs on my iCom radio which will be connect to my intercom. One of the two radio inputs will be used for the GPS, leaving only one left.

Are you telling me I can short the two outputs from the D100 and D10 together on the same audio in on the radio? Won't this cause me some other problems?

Thanks again.

Yes, you can hook the wires from the EFIS and EMS together, without causing any problems. This will make both outputs a bit quieter, but they will work fine and won't cause any harm. Most people need to put a volume control on the wire anyway, so the volume won't be an issue either.

I as well, have a sigtronics stereo panel and a flight dek. How do you connect the single audio output to a stereo intercom without inadvetantly crossing the line back into a mono system? or do we just hear the alrm in one ear? A wiring diagram would probably help.

This is really a question for Sigtronics. Your com radio, nav radio, and just about everything else I can think of in an airplane except music is mono, so I assume they have a way to hook it up without making your whole panel mono.
