EFIS D100 Mounting

My D100 was factory installed in my CTsw using the mounting bracket  supplied by Dynon.  I have had issues with the EFIS slip ball being 1/2 a ball out to the left while the airplane is on the ground on a level surface and find that my flight controls are slightly crossed in flight when the airplane is trimmed with the ball centred.
Today I removed the D100 from the bracket (it was secured only by one 7/64 screw as mentioned on page 19 of the installation manual) however I noticed that at the back, the aluminium bracket was somewhat distorted as though it was tightened excessively in order to keep the D100 firmly against the instrument panel.  In the manual it says you can also use a #6-32 screw on the other side, from the back to the front and am wondering if anybody has done this and has it made a difference.
I am hoping that by adjusting the D100 into the level position so the ball is centred, it may overcome the trim problem I am having, however I need to be able to secure the unit firmly, hence my question.

Anybody?

Thanks

Dave

Occasionally customers use a second screw, but it's truthfully not necessary when the tray is mounted to the panel as it should be. Per our installation guide, that bracket is intended to be securely mounted to the panel itself, so it can provide a firm foundation for the EFIS to mount to the panel against. Then, that single screw need not be tightened down excessively to provide clamping force between the tray, the panel, and the EFIS; it instead just holds the EFIS against the tray.

If this is not how your EFIS tray is attached, you may want to get in touch with your CT representative directly to inquire about how to correct your installation.

Note that replacement trays, should you or your mechanic need one, are available for just $30.

Note if your ball is out when the EFIS is level in roll on the ground, we may need to have your unit back for a look.

Mike....thanks for the quick reply.   My suspicion is that the D100 is itself not level in the panel, so will make some adjustments to that effect and then see if the ball is centered.  I will also secure the bracket to the panel as you suggest and that should take the pressure off the single screw that clamps the D100 between the tray and the panel.

Mike..I removed the D100 from the panel and bench tested it on a level surface........the Dynon is absolutely fine with the ball perfectly centred.  Further investigation revealed that the entire instrument binnacle was not level with the lateral axis of the airplane so have made some changes which should solve the problem.

Thanks

Dave
