EFIS D10A and EMS D10 Carb temp and OAT alarms

Hi,
I have EFIS D10A and EMS D10 installed on my RV6A.
The Dynon OAT probe is connected to the EDC 10A and uses the database for distribution to the EFIS. The Dynon carb temperature probe is connected to GP2 on the EMS. My question is - How do I set up the units to give alarms for low OAT or low carb temperature. I am able to set up some colours (Green and Yellow) for the carb temp indication, but nothing for the OAT.
Thanks

So OAT definitely does not have alarming on the EFIS side of things. If memory serves (I don't have your set-up in front of me), the EFIS and EMS OAT inputs don't "talk" to each other. So to get what you'd want, you'd need to hook up the OAT to an EMS GP input if you have one available. IE, you'd have to physically reconnect it. Then, you can add it as an aux item on the EMS side of things and then you can set alarms on it on the engine side too.

I am happy to keep my OAT as part of the EDC 10A.

EMS GP1 and GP3 are being used for trim indication.

I have the Carb Temp connect to the EMS (GP2), but it does not allow me to set an alarm, do I need to set something up elsewhere?

I also have a AP74 connected.

Thanks

I would also be interested to know if it is possible to set an alarm on the Carb Temp.

I think I looked into it when I installed the EMS but couldn't see an obvious way, but I may well have missed something as I didn't have carb temp displaying at all to start with.
It is quite possible I was soooo pleased to get that working that I then forgot about the warning option!

So an update on this. When you have your GP input(s) set to either OAT or Carb temp, you can only set green and yellow zones - which don't alarm, as you've found. There isn't a red band available. A workaround for the OAT probe (but not the carb temp sensor) is to use the GP TEMP function, which can use the OAT (sensor type 1). That does have a programmable red/alert zone. Note also that you can only have on GP TEMP function set up across all of the GP inputs. Sorry for the confusion here.

Interesting.
Sounds like I might have an issue because the RV's OAT is connected to the EMS and I wasn't anticipating needing to put a dedicated OAT in to the EFIS when I fit it, but will do so if necessary.

Does changing the OAT probe configuration from specifically OAT to a GP TEMP affect the power display calculations on the EMS, or does the calculation use GP TEMP if OAT isn't available?

Or am I looking too deeply into this? :-?
