I have the following in an RV-9a:

a) 6 Pack of steam gauges
b) Garmin SL40
c) Garmin GTX327
d) Trio Pro Pilot w GPSS and VNAV
e) Xaon XRX

Looking to replace Item a with something newer like a Skyview, but will not be looking to replace any of the other items.

1) Will a Skyview be able to provide an ARINC signal to my Pro Pilot? or if not an ARINC, a NMEA signal?

2) Will the Skyview be able to show the output of the Xaon on its screen.

3) Does the GPS portion of the Skyview cover the southern half of Canada?

4) If the answer to item 3 is "NO", will the Skyview take any GPS input from a Garmin GPS.

Hopefully the Skyview can fit my requirements.

Appreciate your input.

John

1) Will a Skyview be able to provide an ARINC signal to my Pro Pilot? or if not an ARINC, a NMEA signal?

Eventual ARINC label outputs are still TBD. At the release of the ARINC converter later this summer/fall, no. At a future date, possibly but not guaranteed.

NMEA is very likely to happen, but it's not currently implemented.

2) Will the Skyview be able to show the output of the Xaon on its screen.

This is an almost definite yes, but, traffic device support is probably not before next year.

3) Does the GPS portion of the Skyview cover the southern half of Canada?

The terrain map does, but a very basic trial version of the navigation mapping software is just about to be released in 2.5 for the US-only. Worldwide navigation mapping, including Canada, is due later this year.

4) If the answer to item 3 is "NO", will the Skyview take any GPS input from a Garmin GPS.

It will do that today, actually, and the SkyView can display your Garmin's information on its HSI.

One more thing - the US data does cover about the southernmost 100 miles of Canada, so if you're in that region even the 2.5 update (coming in the next couple of weeks) might be useful for you.

Unfortunately it sounds like this product is still to early in it's development cycle to consider. The other option is to look at D180,  D100, D120 etc, but since these will be obsoleted I guess they're not much of an option either.

Thanks for being upfront about what the Skyview can't do, I was always impressed with your product line, but I guess my timing is wrong and will have to look elsewhere.

Regards
John

We have zero plans to discontinue any of our products. The D100 series still has a long life ahead of it.

Thank you for your guidance. It appears the Skyview is not for me but I will be installing a Dynon D180 fed by a Garmin 695 which will also feed my Pro Pilot with NMEA data. A couple of the 6-pack gauges will be moved and used a backup.

I decided on this Dynon EFIS partly due to the fact that after reading many parts of this Forum, I can see that help and timely responses by Dynon support in the Forum is readily available. That support is a major factor in buying the Dynon product.

Keep up the good work.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
