Just an interesting question, has the D10/D100 panles been throughly tested in the extreme lattitudes?

I know it went into space, but it was more for other purposes.

The reason I ask is the new ASPEN AVIONICS panels are doing some very strange things when south of say Melbourne (Aust not Florida) and I believe also doing similar things up north in Alaska. And the bugs are not funny, like straight and level all of a sudden the horizon shows a massive bank angle .

Not bad for an expensive TSO bit of gear  :-?

I do not want to be in IMC and have an event like that!

We do not use magnetic sensors to assist our attitude calculation, so we don't care where on the planet you are. Aspen and GRT use magnetometers, so local or global magnetic fluctuations can cause incorrect attitude displays.

FWIW- I've never seen any EFIS issues that weren't owner/builder induced ;D More than happy to install one in my own plane for IFR (with analog backups) when the vac system starts giving me problems providing 'she who must be obeyed' approves ;)
