I have not been able to find information on this scenario: If I have an EFIS unit and an EM unit installed, and the EFIS unit goes black, can I revert the ADI display to the EM screen as a backup in IMC?

Only if it's JUST the screen that's failed. Remember, the EFIS's sensors live inside the box. So while screen failure is a possibility, realize that if the EFIS looks like its dead, it probably is if you consider the full realm of possible failures.

If what you're looking for is IMC redundancy, you need multiple sources of flight instrument data. For a two screened solution, the FlightDEK-D180 + EFIS-D100 gets you just that.
