I am building up a corvair engine for my project and was not sure what would be the correct SkyView EMS wiring harness to use with it's non-typical 6 EGT and 2 CHT arrangement. As I see it there are two possibilities here: 1) use the 6 EGT/CHT harness and have 4 CHT wires left over to tiewrap out of the way or 2) use the 4 EGT/CHT harness and connect 2 of the EGT leads to the CHT wires. Can the SkyView be programmed to understand the #2 setup and display all 6 EGT's as EGT or would it insist on showing them as 4 EGT's and 4 CHT's. If I go with #1 then can SkyView be configured to show just the 2 CHT's that are active or would I be stuck with 4 dead ones and 2 live ones. Reguardless how would Skyview handle the display of EGT and CHT where the numbers are not matched. I am waiting to resolve this before I proceed with purchasing senders and wiring harness for the Firewall Forward mockup I am building.

So any of the thermocouple inputs on SkyView can be configured to be either CHT or EGT, so there's no issue there. Where you WILL have a slight issue is that CHTs are nominally type J thermocouples, while EGTs are type K thermocouples. They use different wire, and aren't interchangable. So basically, you can't take a 4 CHT/EGT harness and take two of the wire pairs and repurpose them. So on the wiring front, you'll either need to start with a 4 cylinder harness and delete a couple of wires and add a few others. Or start with the 6 cylinder harness, and just delete the wires that you don't need. We do sell CHT and EGT wire at a buck a foot, fyi.
