Who else here thinks that this would be an outstanding safety feature?

Maybe most do not realise why this is so.

It would take the Dynon EMS and skyview to the top of the tree in terms of engine monitors. No other I know of could compare then.

This is serious stuff!!

What you say Dynon?

- Really ??? If it's not a safety of flight issue then it becomes another 'nice to have feature' IMO ;)

Well it just can be a safety of flight issue.

This is one feature which other EMS have and it is a significant flight safety matter.

The raw data number in deg F or C is fine, it does not need normalising at all. The green bars do.

small subtle changes can be the early warning signs of disaster not far away, and staggered bars with a subtle change are not going to be picked up by the eye. A normalised set of bars, when showing say a 10dF change will be picked up by the eye/brain.

There is a very good reason others have this feature, and until recently I did not notice the pronounced difference in effectiveness.

A normalize function would allow engine problems to be made more visible more quickly. I think that is safety of flight. Regardless, to monitor performance, I would certainly like this feature, and all the other engine monitor companies have this as a standard feature. I know Dynon has quite a few other customer upgrade requests on their list, but this is a good one. Also, there is the capability of engine data recording and graphing that would be excellent to have.

If you doubt the value of a normalized EGT display, take a look at this EAA webinar on engine monitors by Mike Busch (presented Aug 9, 2012).  Note how many times he mentions using the feature, and how much value he places in having an engine monitor that includes it.

Yep!

And it was George Braly, John Deakin and Walter Atkinson that had me convinced I needed to talk Dynon into this. It will make them the leading EMS supplier.

It may seem trivial, but as a couple have pointed out, this is BIG DEAL.
