EGT Probe Installation

I drilled 1/8" holes in exhaust pipes per instructions. The probes don't fit thru the holes. I tried a #30 hole in some scrap--the probes fit nicely. I might be able to force the probe into an 1/8" hole, but doubt if I could ever remove it. WOuld #30 holes be acceptable? Anyone else have this issue? Thanks in advance.

I remember from my Electronics Intl. probes you want the probes to fit loosely in the holes. They must be able to move a little or they may break.
