EGT reading

I have a EMS D10 connected to a Lycoming O-540 and in any part of the filght (cruise,approach,etc) suddenly the the EGT reading of the cylinder 5 increase it value to 2060F few seconds and drop to normal reading. All of another readings are ok. Could be a prove is failing?

It could be that the probe is failing, but more often, the electrical connection between the probe's cable and the harness (stiff brown wire between the EMS and the engine compartment) has a poor crimp. We suggest re-crimping this connection with new connectors and that might clear up the problem.
