My friends plane has a strange problem.

he has a 10 & 7 inch Skyview in his Rotax powered plane.

at rest one EGT reads ambient whilst the other reads -70C.
this approx 100C difference continues in flight. the low reading EGT rises and falls in step with the "normal" EGT....its just approx 100C lower.

connections and configuration have been checked.

is there any way to reset the lower resting temperature?

thanks
Kevin

Suggest to your friend that he contact Dynon Technical Support - 425-402-0433 or support@dynonavionics.com.

.......correction................

it should of course be degrees Fahrenheit not Celsius.

will get him to contact you but he is not very Dynon savvy at the present, and as we live in New Zealand we are awake whilst you sleep and vice versa.
I have been asked to assist being a very happy Dynon owner and user for nearly 10 years.

We suspect a failed thermocouple and testing will show in the next few days I hope. the plane has less than 60 hours since new, Rotax powered and using Mogas.

thanks

There isn't a way to change the "base" temperature. The way thermocouples work, if it's reading wrong, it's either broken or there's something up with the connection. On the latter point, if any non-thermocouple wire was used, or if there's a temperature change across a wire junction (for example, if you split the thermocouple wire at the firewall, using a non-thermocouple connector), that would cause issues. It's sounding like there might be something up with that probe though. Try swapping the probe at the thermocouple connectors. Does it track the probe or the input?
