Undocumented feature???

The 37 pin sensor harness supplied for the EMS module that I purchased has a 9 pin D-Sub connector on the other end of the wires connected to pins 11, 12 and 13 (orange, yellow, black) of the 37 pin D-Sub connector.

Can anyone tell me why this connector would be wired onto the harness? What it is meant to be used for, or am I really missing something obvious

Thanks
Eddie

Its in the installtion manual but that same harness is used on the on the D100 and D10 not used on skyview think they can be used as general purpose pins

Documented, but not well, thus a FAQ.

In the current version of the SkyView System Installation Manual, there's this note on page 7-4:

The EMS 37-pin Main Sensor Harness includes a DB9 connector that is wired to pins 11, 12, and 30. This connector should be removed for SkyView installations. Remove the connector by cutting the three wires close to the connector.

MWARREN is correct - this same harness is used on our earlier Engine Monitoring Systems, and those pins are used as a serial interface to stream engine data and perform firmware updates. On SkyView, since firmware updates are performed via SkyView Network, the serial port wasn't needed so pins 11 and 12 were re-purposed into General Purpose Inputs 7 and 8 respectively. Pin 30 was, and remains, a Ground wire.
