EMS and EFIS with OAT

I plan on buying the sport pack for a IO-540. Since the Injected EMS comes with an OAT probe, can the probe be connected to the EMS and then have it send the temp data via the RS-232 port from the EMS to the EFIS so the EFIS can disply True Airspeed etc? It would be nice not to have to have a OAT probe connected to both EMS and EFIS.

Thanks

Ray,
Currently you would need seperate OAT probes for the EMS and EFIS. We hope to add the ability to share OAT data between the units in the future, but the software we have today does not do that.

We agree that it would be really nice to only have one OAT probe and really do hope to add this soon.

When you do add this feature, could you at least tell me now whether the OAT should be connected to the EFIS or the EMS. This way I could wire it to the right unit knowing you are going to send the data from this unit to the other unit via the interconnect wire.

Thanks

Hi Ray,

While we haven't nailed down the exact way this will work, I believe that we'd want this data sharing to work regardless of which instrument the OAT is connected to. Right now, we ship two different kinds of OATs - one with the EFIS and one with the EMS. We are currently in the process of switching this so that they both utilize the same sensor. This would allow you to switch the instrument that the OAT is connected to. For the time being, the OAT should be attached to the instrument that you bought it with.
