The subject of cutting the excess brown wire was covered in a previous post but I now see another question looming. [You can cut them down, no problem. What does matter is that the CHT/EGT wires don't have any temperature change across a non-thermocouple junction ] This is from DYNON. What is meant by "a connector made for a thermocouple?" A Molex connector (nylon) wouldn't work?

The AMP spade/push on connectors work fine - the push on type are fitted already to the probe wires (probe end).

Thnax jakej. I was hoping to eliminate having to undo 16 spade connectors with two (already on hand) 8 connector Molex plugs during and engine mount pull. Reading in the "AeroElectric Connection" each spade must be a crimpable terminal of the proper alloys. Or you can purchase a pug designed for thermocouples. I was just wondering why the "big deal" when wanting to dis-join 8 wire pairs at the firewall.

You could use a circular multipole connector eg ITT Trident series or others (uses solid machined pins/sockets - needs a Daniels type barrel crimper) - has worked for me.

HiGeez - a temperature change across a non-thermocouple junction will be reflected as an error in temperature of that amount of temperature change. The spade connectors that we provide are NOT thermocouple-specific, but they're also not designed to be joined across a temperature change (ie, the firewall)
