EMS D10 problems

My EMS D10 has several problems that beg correction.  The application is

an O-235 Lyc in an experimental Cub.

1] The resistance fuel gages will not accept the incremental fill

calibration.  I checked the resistance prior to the installation and the

pots yielded good linear resistance values. I have two wing root tanks

with the pots installed in the but of the wing close to the fuselage that

will be difficult to remove.  My fuel flow system reads correctly but

with 24 gal tanks in a O-235 Cub I rarely fill the tanks and fear a

cumulative error using strictly the flow system.

2] The RPM reading off the P-mag has become intermitently eratic.

3] The manifold pressure reads 57" but I believe it was accurate for the

very early flights.  I have your OAT installed and reading but w/o the

manifold pressure the % power feature is inoperative.

I would say that I should send the unit to you for a compelete

evaluation.  Please advise me of your thoughts on these problems.

1) That's pretty typical if the physical tank sender hits its top out before you're done filling. In this case, you'll get a "X+" reading, where X is the last amount of physical fuel that the system saw as you were filling. In other words, the EMS-D10 won't knowingly report more fuel than it can see. Just like your car's gas gauge does (without numbers), it essentially sits on the top peg. Is this what you're seeing? If not, can you provide more description of where the calibration isn't working? What are the sensor value numbers you saw as you added fuel?
2) Jumps high? Drops low? How is it connected?
3) That sounds like a mis-wired sensor. In particular, it's seeing 5V all the time. People sometimes get the A/B/C pins mixed up, and that can inject the 5V excitation line directly back into the EMS in some cases.

Given what you've described, I can almost promise you that your unit doesn't have anything systemically wrong with it that could cause all 3 of these issues. You might give our tech support a call or email for a bit more personalized support to work through each of these problems.
