I started my engine for the 1st time yesterday. I had all normal readings except the #2 egt went to -99 deg. When the engine is off, it reads the ambient temp like the other 3. Any ideas on where to start diagnosing?

Thanks, Dave

Dave, you really need to do a search first re this topic - it''s been done to death :D

FYI - those symptoms are usually the result of a bad connection. Also make sure the pin is fully home in the dsub connector & thoroughly check both male and female connections where the probe joins onto the 'loom'.

HTH ;)

I was able to get back to the hanger tonight. Took a look to make sure I had not mixed up the wires, and I hadn't, red to red, yellow to yellow. I switched them anyway. Fired her up and lo and behold # 2 is reading normal now. I guess my harness was made on a Friday afternoon :) Harness was ordered with the 120, and the bag it was in said it was assembled by Steinair, fyi. No biggie.

While that does help for now, if you actually have yellow to red and red to yellow at some point, this will throw off the readings of a thermocouple in small ways. The wires are different metals and connecting them like that causes errors.

Sounds like somehow your red/yellow is switched at the EMS connector. For the best accuracy, you should really fix it up there, and then keep the red and yellow straight all the way to the EMS. If you did get a miswired harness, we're very sorry.
