EMS-D120 won't boot after long off time

I started my plane for the first time in two months and the EMS didn't turn on.  The main battery is on a battery tender and started the engine just fine.  Also, the EFIS-D10A started when I turned on the Avionics master.  I turned off the master and turned it back on.  The EMS illuminated to the splash screen, but nothing more.  As I previously read here, I have cut the keep alive wire (pin 2).  Is cutting that wire still recommended?  Is it related to the unit not booting after a two-month time without power?  What should I try? I'm still at version 4.

What did it do after you got to the spash screen. Did it just shut down, or did it stay there? Also, can you check voltage was the EFIS is reporting when this happens?

We still recommend that you do not connect keep alive.

Make sure that you really have disconnected keep alive though. What happens if you

Assuming it worked before, nothing's changed in your wiring, keep alive really is disconnected, and the unit truly is getting enough voltage, we may need to look at it here.

The splash screen stayed on and nothing changed after that.  I repeated the procedure and it was the same.  I cut the keep alive wire under the panel last year and I'm sure it's cut. There were no changes during the off time.

OK. I checked today and voltage is 12.0V. The unit didn't power on at all today. Do I need a return number before I send this back?

Yes, you need an RMA to return it. Please send us an email at support(at)dynonavionics.com or give us a call to get one.

I had the same problem with my EMS-10 and had received a RMS number and was starting to remove my unit to send back but first I tried just un pluging both plugs and repluging them back in,  the EMS started up and seems fine now.

We had this recently on our EMS120 that had been inactive for a year and then after a few off and ons it went first to the Splash Screen and then after a few more tries failed to come on at all - just the backlight.

I then tried connecting the PC to it to see if it could "see" anything active and bingo the EMS came alive. I then backed up the BIOS / Settings and reflashed the BIOS to 5.1.1 (or whatever the latest is - it was already in there) and since then - absolutely no problems at all.
