I have a few hours on my Skyview now, and quite often, when i switch it on it shows the red cross and EMS fail. I can re-boot it and it sometimes comes back OK but if i pull the fuse for the back up battery (i put one in line) then power it up it all comes on then if i wait a while then put the fuse in its OK. if i put the fuse in too soon the EMS shows fail again.

(all this happens when the plane has been in the sun and is warm)

Also, what are Dynons views about starting the engine with the skyview on? which is a must as it takes too long to boot up to check oil pressure?

SkyView is meant to be on at engine crank.

As for your problem - are you running the latest firmware version (3.0, currently)? If you are, give us a call at 425-402-0433. If not, update first and see if that changes anything. An additional piece of data that would be useful, if you can get it, is what is happening with the light on the EMS when the red X occurs?

Im running 3.0 but the EMS is in the front locker. next time it happens i will jump out and look in the locker to see what the light is doing

Many thanks

That's the reason why I wish to have a little analog Oil Pressure and Voltmeter and fuel pressure for backup. Even so Dynon says the system is designed to be ON for engine start, I think Skyview will love it to be started only once voltage has stabilized, specially in case of an older main battery, who could drop under 10 Volts as engine is cranking on a failed hot start, for example.

SkyView will run down to 4V for up to 10 seconds while you are cranking the engine, even without a backup battery.
