EMS general purpose TC

I want to put a TC in the engine compartment that I can move around to investigate temperatures of the cooling air or equipment.

Using the general purpose TC input what type of wire and what type of thermocouple should I use for about 70 - 500 F?

You want a J type thermocouple (CHT) for those temps. They will go to 625F.
