EMS just blinks on power up

Hi guys
I have just received my EMS D120 and the EFIS D100. The EFIS comes up perfectly on power up but the D120 EMS just blinks a blue screen. I have checked power and earth wires. I do not have any sensors connected to the EMS as yet. Can anyone give me some advice as to how to get it up and running.
