Hi,

I have a question about the power wiring for the encoder (dynon model) which is connecting to my KT-76A transponder. Does the power wire and earth wire from the encoder need a seperate connection to the buss power and airframe earth for the Transponder, or can I simply splice them into the connections for power and earth which connect to the back of the Transponder's plug?

You can share the transponder's power with the encoder converter. Some transponders even have an output on the pinout to power an encoder, which I think is pin 11 on the KT-76A, and you could use this as well.

Thanks - can I assume it's also OK to share the ground connection?

I will check the KT76A manual to confirm it's pin 11.

Yeah. You can tie the ground connection that the encoder needs into the transponder's ground.
