I get the aural warning "Engine Monitor" in my RV-12 when the stall warning sounds and also when I unlock the canopy.  Is there some way to disable this?  All other warnings and functions seem normal.

It says "Engine Monitor" because we don't have a custom audio file for those specific alarms, and these contacts are monitored via the SV-EMS-220 (Engine monitoring) module.

You can disable the alarm for those two signals, but doing so will disable both the audible and visual alarms.

SETUP MENU > SYSTEM SETUP > EMS SETUP > SENSOR SETUP >

STALL CONTACT - change ALARM to OFF, push ACCEPT button.

CANOPY CONTACT - change ALARM to OFF, push ACCEPT button.

I get the aural warning "Engine Monitor" in my RV-12 when the stall warning sounds and also when I unlock the canopy.  Is there some way to disable this?  All other warnings and functions seem normal.

Is there a list of the custom audio files? The Skyview in my RV-12 has a warning: "Check canopy latch" which was added after the plane was built. Did this originate from the Vans setup files?

All of the possible alerts, including the custom audio for those that have them, are listed in the SkyView Pilots user guide in chapter 12 (download it from http://docs.dynonavionics.com). The audio files are built into SkyView's software, strictly speaking, but they're enabled by turning on the alert via the EMS setup. When you load the Van's settings, they're effectively turning it on for you automatically.

You should be getting a "Check canopy latch" audio annunciation for the canopy though. You don't hear that?

I only get "Check Canopy Latch" warning if the engine RPM (Rotax) is above 3700 and canopy is unlocked. No other time. Is there a way to just have it say something more appropriate like "Caution".

On my "that'd be fun but totally unnecessary" wishlist are two things: being able to change the splash screen (so I can put a picture of MY plane on it), and being able to upload a second set of audio files with different voices. :)

Mitch, the canopy check was designed by Van's to operate on the RV-12 exactly like it does. They wanted people to be able to taxi out without a warning on a hot day, but then catch you immediately if you go to take off power with it unlatched. There's also the issue that it would say "check latch" if you boot up the SkyView without the canopy latched, and then would never say it again if it was not tied to some other event like RPM.

Can you explain why you would prefer it to say "caution" right at boot instead of "Check canopy latch" when you go to take off?

Sorry, I think you misunderstood me. The "Check Canopy Latch" works exactly as designed; to warn of an unlocked canopy of the RPM exceeds 3700 rpm.

My comment was that anytime while taxiing with the engine running or not, and I unlock the canopy, it immediately says: "Engine Monitor" which has nothing to do with unlatching the canopy.

Ahh. That means you have your canopy set to alert in sensor settings. Change the alert from "latching" or "self clear" to "off" and it won't do this. You'll still get the canopy alert based on RPM.
