Engine mounted RPM sensor?

I have heard of folks having an engine mounted RPM sensor which attaches where the typical tach drive cable mounts on the rear accessory housing on Lycoming engines. Do any of you have one you recommend and can give price and source? I have one Lightspeed and one mag. I know I can hook these to the Skyview and read pulses. I would rather read RPM directly. Can anyone provide information here?

Vans has a tach generator for his electric tach, don't know if it puts out enough to fire the sky view.

The Vans tach transducer will work. You can find it here: http://www.vansaircraft.com/cgi-bin/catalog.cgi?ident=1334882607-464-246&browse=ei&product=vans-tach
