Erratic amp

FlightDek is installed with the amps shunt and amps display is causing my test pilot some concerns. The engine is Rotax 912Uls. On the ground without engine running it shows -4 approx which I guess is what one would expect. However, in the air it jumps around showing mainly negative values of -1,-2,-3 and much less often positive values +3,+ 4 or +5 The display doesn't seem to change much depending on the loading. Any ideas? Thanks Nick

Hi Nick,

From what we hear, this is pretty common, though we don't currently have a solution unfortunately. The backstory is that the generator on the 912 is pretty noisy, and because of the way we measure current, this is hard for us to measure perfectly.

Thanks but difficult to accept you sold me a solution that you knew did not work?

I agree Nick.

I brought this to Dynons attention over a year ago and we still get the same answer. "It's not our fault, it's the Rotax noisey alternator's fault".

Enough is enough Dynon. Either come up with a "solution" or disclose in your advertising to potential customers that your product does not work with the Rotax 912/914.
