I replaced the input for a Garmin 496 to a GRT Mini. The Mini accepts flight plans from my GNS480 perfectly. It will output to the Skyview over serial ostensibly to feed the HSI as did the 496. Is there a preferred baud rate in Skyview? What format should I tell the Mini to use? Generic Aviation, NMEA, other?

I'd start with NMEA @ 9600 Baud. If that doesn't work, try move to aviation format, same baud rate. Or really anything the Mini supports: SkyView can be set for practically any baud rate. I'm not positive about the Mini's output capabilities though to be able to tell you which format might have the most complete output.
